Welcome To SWECF Kenya

Hello and Welcome to SWECF Kenya!

We are very pleased that you are here to join us. We at SWECF are very excited and proud to be sharing our journey with you as we develop our organisation and provide support to a number of rural communities across Kenya. We are focused on helping reduce poverty and empowering our communities. Our projects and initiatives are targeted at the most crucial aspects of sustainable development. Providing a securer and more sustainable access to water resources and developing environmental conservation programmes to help support communities in combating environmental issues such as climate change, deforestation, poor land management, and water scarcity to name a few. As we are an NGO we do not currently receive any government funding, we purely rely on the kindness of our supporters whether that be from fundraising programs for specific projects or from membership subscriptions to our website and social platforms. Without people like you this would not be possible. We are a small scale organisation but have very ambitious goals. We want to be able to deliver a number of important projects across Northern and Eastern Kenya. Some of which include; the development of sand dams, shallow wells and borehole construction/repairs. Supported by environmental conservation projects such as our Afforestation Program. However, it is all well and good setting up projects like this but it is even more important to help educate communities so that they are aware of some of the issues they face and how best to both manage and mitigate them. This is why we also focus on environmental education. Providing knowledge and skills to communities and the groups that help support us in the field. These include self help, community, youth and women groups. All of which help with the physical labour that is required to deliver our projects both successfully and efficiently.

We have already began our 2020 Afforestation Program which is focused on planting trees at a number of rural schools across Kenya. So far we have planted 1,000 trees at Kakunguu Primary School and have a number of other schools that have agreed for us to plant at there sites. We are also raising funds for our next sand dam project which will help provide a securer and cleaner water source for one of our communities. Many of our rivers are seasonal and thus being able to store such rainwater is often extremely difficult on a larger scale. That's why sand dams are very effective for future water security, you can learn more about sand dams on other blog posts on our website.

For now, from everyone from SWECF Kenya, we would like to welcome you to our organisation. If you would like to partner with us please feel free to contact us via email or if you would like to support us with donation please follow the membership section of our website. Together, we can help empower communities lives now and for the future!
