Our Mission

Our mission is to contribute to the long term sustainable development of rural communities across Northern and Eastern Kenya. Our vision aims at reducing poverty and water scarcity alongside developing environmental conservation initiatives. SWECF pursues this by; Actively entering into partnership with women groups, youth groups and self help groups involved in community development. It focuses on projects at community level addressing food security, water, environmental management and Christianity.

WATER PROJECTS TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES

Securing water supplies for long term sustainability

With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with this challenge.
1.SAND DAM PROJECT.
Building a sand dam, a structure for harvesting water from seasonal rivers. The barrier, typically made of concrete, impedes water flow and coarse grains of sand settle behind it, creating an artificial aquifer that fills up during rainy seasons.
Seasonal rivers flow a few times a year here, and with little piped water and few reliable alternatives, many people here depend on them for water. Building sand dams on these seasonal  rivers, where people can scoop the sand to fetch the water or use  pumps, helps minimize water loss through evaporation and recharges groundwater. This is increasingly important as human-caused climate change is leading to prolonged seasons of drought,  let's support local communities  in fighting away water scarcity, climate change by building  Water projects( Sand Dams Projects to the local communities living  in semi arids lands. )You can stand with us in building  Water Projects to the local communities to fight away climate change  and water scarcity

2.ROCK CATCHMENT PROJECT:It is a rainwater catchment area developed from a rock outcrop to catch and concentrate runoff into a storage structure for later use. Stone gutters are made to collect the runoff from the rock catchment area, and direct the rainwater into a storage structure.Harvesting water from rock outcrops increase water supply for people, livestock and drinking water. When water is used for irrigation purposes, the agricultural production is increased due to the increased water availability.

lets support swecf in fighting climate change, water scarcity  by building many  water structures 💦💦🌱🇰🇪You can stand with us by donating the programs, Building Water Projects or The school garden project ( planting trees program) to the local communities in kenya living in semi arids lands. Click fundraising link and be with themhttps://lnkd.in/dpGzHWVz💦🌱🌱🇰🇪Thank you for your Giving 🌿 💦🌍

Environmental Education

Helping educate communities in all matters of the environment

With this initiative, our goal is to promote great opportunities for those in need. With access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential.
Environmental protection is the activity of individuals, organizations, and governments protecting the natural environment. As a result, it is important to protect natural resources and the current natural environment, as well as to repair harm and reverse trends when feasible.Importance of environmental conservation:
Earth is home to a wide range of living organisms, and we are all reliant on it for food, air, water, and other necessities.By conserving wildlife and other natural resources, the life of humans will be healthy and safe.Conservation involves preserving species variety, DNA, and ecosystems, as well as environmental services like nitrogen cycling.

Soil, Water & Environmental Conservation Foundation at a Glance

Soil, Water & Environmental Conservation Foundation (SWECF Kenya) is an NGO based in Mwingi, Kenya. SWECF was established in 2018 by the founder Victor Mutuku Mutunga operating mostly within Northern & Eastern (arid & semi arid) Kenya. We began by establishing environmental conservation and water development programs in Mwingi, Kitui county and northern regions of Kenya in collaboration with the local communities and other partners in respective villages. We support local community initiatives and empower them in their efforts to fight poverty and access basic services.
